Lights & Sirens Community Dinner: A Night to Honor Our Hometown Heroes

Updated: 6 days ago

At Sugar Water, community means everything — and on Saturday, June 29th, we’re proud to host a heartfelt evening of connection, gratitude, and good old-fashioned comfort food with our Lights & Sirens Community Dinner. This special event, held in partnership with the Princess Anne Fire Department, invites guests to gather around the table and enjoy a night dedicated to the brave men and women who keep our town safe.

The Lights & Sirens dinner is more than just a meal — it’s a celebration of service, a tribute to those who run toward danger while the rest of us run away, and a chance for our community to come together in support of our local heroes. From the first spark of planning, this dinner has been a labor of love, built on mutual respect and admiration for the firefighters who serve Princess Anne day in and day out.

What is a Community Dinner:

A community dinner is more than just a meal—it’s an opportunity to gather, connect, and share an experience with neighbors, friends, and new acquaintances. It’s about coming together around the table to enjoy great food, meaningful conversation, and a sense of belonging.

Dana and David Zucker, owners of Sugar Water, began hosting Community Dinners at their home inspired by the documentary on Netflix, Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones. The small group quickly grew and strangers became freinds and new relationships were built. Dana and David knew when they opened the restaurant this would become a monthly event inviting community in to share their heritage, love of food, talents and more.

The idea behind the event is simple: to bring you the comforting, satisfying meals our local firehouse crews know and love. While the full menu is still under wraps, what we can promise is an experience full of warmth, flavor, and stories — the kind of food that fuels long shifts and the kind of company that makes a town feel like family.

Throughout the evening, guests will have a chance to meet and mingle with members of the Princess Anne Fire Department — ask questions, hear firsthand stories from the firehouse, and gain a deeper appreciation for the people behind the uniforms. It’s an opportunity to say thank you in the most heartfelt way possible: by breaking bread together.

Events like Lights & Sirens are part of our mission at Sugar Water to make our restaurant not just a place to eat, but a place to connect. Whether it’s through partnering with local farmers, hosting book clubs and workshops, or putting on themed community dinners, we are always looking for ways to build bridges between neighbors and create lasting memories.

We’re especially honored to spotlight the Fire Department in this way. The courage, dedication, and selflessness of these individuals often go unseen — but we see them. And this dinner is our way of saying, “We appreciate you. We thank you. We’re proud to know you.”

Tickets for the Lights & Sirens Community Dinner are now available. Seating is limited, and we expect this to be a popular event, so we recommend booking early. Whether you come with family, friends, or fly solo, you’ll be welcomed with open arms and a full plate.

As always, we’ll be bringing our signature Sugar Water charm to the evening — from low lighting and cozy ambiance to heartfelt service and a few surprises along the way. Dress casually, bring your appetite, and prepare for a night that’s equal parts delicious and meaningful.
