Spring into Sugar Water for our April Community Dinner

Spring Community Dinner at Sugar Water: A Celebration of Spring Local Flavors and Community

As the warmth of spring breathes new life into the Eastern Shore, Sugar Water is excited to host a Spring Community Dinner in partnership with UMES Hospitality and Tourism. This special evening will bring together food lovers, local farmers, and Hospitality, Tourism and PGA Management students for an unforgettable dining experience featuring the season’s freshest ingredients.

An Evening of Culinary Collaboration

Taking place at Sugar Water in Princess Anne, MD, this event is more than just a dinner—it’s a celebration of local food, community connections, and the next generation of culinary talent. Executive Chef Seth, along with Chef Paul Suplee and students from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Hospitality and Tourism program, will craft a menu that highlights the best of what spring has to offer.

With a deep commitment to farm-and-water-to-table dining, Sugar Water sources ingredients from local farmers, fishermen, and artisans, ensuring that every dish not only tastes amazing but also supports the local economy.

A Menu Rooted in the Season

Spring brings a bounty of vibrant produce, fresh herbs, and rich flavors, which will be showcased in each thoughtfully prepared dish. The menu for the evening will feature items like:

🥣 Lamb Stew with Local Vegetables – Slow-simmered to perfection, this comforting dish will feature tender cuts of locally raised lamb, paired with a medley of spring vegetables. Each bite will be infused with aromatic herbs, making for a deeply satisfying and flavorful experience.

🥕 Roasted Baby Carrots with Fresh Local Honey – Sweet and earthy, these farm-fresh baby carrots will be roasted to bring out their natural sugars and finished with a drizzle of locally sourced honey, adding a delicate touch of springtime sweetness.

🍓 Strawberry Rhubarb Bars – No spring dinner would be complete without a seasonal dessert. The tartness of fresh rhubarb pairs beautifully with the sweetness of ripe strawberries, all nestled in a buttery, crumbly crust to create a perfect sweet-and-tangy finale to the meal.

More Than Just a Meal

Beyond the delicious food, the Spring Community Dinner is an opportunity to support local students in their culinary journey. The UMES students will gain hands-on experience in menu planning, preparation, and service, working alongside seasoned professionals to bring this event to life.

Guests will not only enjoy an incredible meal but also become part of a greater mission—mentoring and uplifting the next generation of chefs and hospitality leaders. It’s a chance to dine with purpose, knowing that every bite contributes to the education and success of these talented students.
